Whittier is rich is history. Founded by the Quaker’s.

Whittier has a sense of history that feels lived-in rather than preserved behind glass. I have helped a huge number of valued clients buy and sell some very unique craftsmen homes in the uptown area. I remember one investor who I helped buy a old home that had fallen off it’s foundation during the Whittier earthquake. He successfully poured a new foundation and restored the home to it’s intended beauty. On a personal note I live in East Whittier right on the border of Los Angeles and Orange county.

Rooted in its early Quaker beginnings, the city has grown into a place where character and community still take priority. The Uptown Whittier historic area reflect that balance. It’s walkable, full of local businesses, and shaped by generations of residents who have chosen to invest in the area long term. East Whittier is the newest area if you consider 1950’s and 1960’s newer. There are many spots of renewal of newer homes where many older business were.

Beyond its historic core, Whittier offers a range of neighborhoods that reflect steady, intentional growth. From classic homes with architectural charm to more updated pockets, there’s a mix that appeals to both longtime homeowners and newer buyers. The presence of Whittier College adds an intellectual and cultural layer, subtly influencing the community while maintaining a relaxed, approachable feel. Fun note is that president Nixon has ties to Whittier.

Outdoor spaces like Turnbull Canyon provide a natural escape just minutes from residential streets, reinforcing the city’s balance between accessibility and retreat. Altogether, Whittier is a great place to live.
